University Brief:
Design a typeface for an IKEA advertising campaign. Your type design will be used across integrated media, including posters, flyers, leaflets, online banners, on TV and YouTube ads.
Ikea want the typography to reflect their core business proposition – flat pack furniture. The typeface should be designed as a modular font, with letter designs that are vibrant, modern and beautiful.
My Response:
I created my typeface with a variety of shapes (from semicircles, to triangles, to rectangles) to reflect their core business proposition – flat pack furniture, which is composed of multiple components of a variety of shapes. I also felt like this variety in shapes made the letter designs more vibrant and modern; they were more eye-catching because of their unusual shapes.
